Is a Cruise Ship Suite Worth the Money? Here’s What I Learned on Celebrity Reflection

As a travel advisor, I always recommend a balcony cabin to my cruise clients. It offers the perfect blend of value and comfort—private outdoor space, natural light, and an ideal spot for that first cup of coffee or sunset cocktail.

But earlier this year, I noticed something interesting: on a few select sailings, the cost of a mini suite was only slightly higher than a standard balcony. So, in October, we decided to test it out for ourselves aboard the Celebrity Reflection.

Embarkation: A Seamless, Stress-Free Start

One of the best perks of booking a suite on Celebrity Cruises is the upgraded embarkation experience. Forget assigned boarding times or long lines. As a guest of The Retreat (Celebrity’s suite-class experience), you board when you’re ready.

Here’s what it looks like:

  • Private security check with other Retreat guests (quick and quiet).

  • Access to an elegant lounge with a buffet, bar, and concierge.

  • In-lounge check-in (no crowded counters).

  • Escorted boarding via a private gangway.

When we arrived in our suite, a bottle of sparkling wine was waiting, followed shortly by our butler who welcomed us personally.
